The First Noel

The first Noel the angel did say

חג המולד הראשון, כך אמר המלאך

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay

היה לרועים עניים ששכבו להם בשדות

In fields where they lay keeping their sheep

בשדות, שם שכבו ושמרו על הצאן שלהם

On a cold winter's night that was so deep

בלילה חורפי קר ועמוק כל כך

Born is the King of Israel

נולד מלך ישראל

They looked up and saw a star

הם הרימו את המבט וראו כוכב

Shining in the east beyond them far

זוהר במזרח, הרחק מהם

And to the earth it gave great light

והוא האיר את הארץ באור גדול

And so it continued both day and night

And by the light of that same star

Three wise men came from country far

שלושה חכמים הגיעו מארץ רחוקה

To seek for a King was their intent

And to follow the star wherever it went

Right over the place where Jesus lay
